Many Car Manufacturers are using Boron and Ultra High Strength Steels (UHSS) in the manufacture of vehicles. Over 20 variances of these UHHS can be used in one vehicle, therefore causing confusion in a repair situation. Elektron and Stanners Equipment are continually working with the manufacturers to ensure the correct weld is produced at a particular joint on the vehicle. Hence the recommendation to always follow manufacturer repair methods, and to use OEM programmes on the welding machine. Stanners offer’s an on site Boron Steel Awareness Course to panel beaters, managers and insurance assessor’s to help with the understanding of Steels, why they are used and why they should be repaired with the correct equipment. This course is QAA Certified and required for PAS125.

To add to the confusion in the market, is the numerous welding companies in the UK giving the customer a difficult decision in which purchase to make, and the wrong decision of a capital purchase can be financially disastrous for a Bodyshop. Therefore this Thatcham Accreditation Scheme gives the Bodyshop a helping hand when making this critical decision – which one?

The Elektron MI-100 Control Inverter Welder has been on the market over 2 years, and this same unit is still receiving new manufacturer approvals to date, the latest including Audi / VW. Therefore proving its stability in the market, and giving customers confidence they are purchasing a machine for now and the future. The MI-100 Control comes with a choice of C-Type Pliers or traditional X-Type Pliers each with a range of arms measuring up to 700mm.

The Elektron MI-100 Control’s other main feature is the ability to record every weld, and allows the operator to print out a report recording information including, Operator ID, Welder ID, Weld Result, Job No, Vehicle Reg No, Weld Gun, Details of the weld including amperage etc.
Example of a print out below.

The MI-100 Control has the facility for OEM Programmes, through a specific menu on the welder. By using manufacturer programmes, this prevents wrong settings and inferior welding results.
